James Baker was appointed as the Chief Deputy of Christian County in October of 2021. Chief Deputy Baker started his law enforcement career in 1998 working as a part-time police officer in the Village of Kincaid, as well as a part-time deputy for the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. In 2003, Chief Deputy Baker became the Chief of Police for the Village of Kincaid. Later that same year, Chief Deputy Baker left the Village of Kincaid to become a full-time deputy with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. During his career with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Baker has been a K-9 handler and a Patrol Sergeant.
Chief Deputy Baker has been a lifelong resident of Christian County and has an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement Administration.
